Victony Enters a New Era With New Album ‘STARLIFE’
Victony steps into a new chapter with STARLIFE – a 15-track album that showcases his evolving sound and artistic freedom. Blending Afrobeats with R&B and Hip-Hop and Afro-Rage, the project features collaborations with BNXN, Blaqbonez, YKB, Young Jonn, and FOLA. The album builds on the Nigerian star’s rise from “Soweto” – to a growing global presence.
A press release from Victony’s team announced that STARLIFE is out now via OUTLAWVILLE/ENCORE RECORDINGS.
Built around his singular melodic sensibility and instinctively experimental approach to sound, STARLIFE moves through atmospheric Afrobeats with R&B, Hip-Hop, and Afro-Rage influences, pairing silky vocals with elastic rhythms, unexpected turns, and a hypnotic sense of movement. Featuring collaborations with BNXN, Blaqbonez, YKB, Babyboy AV, Young Jonn, and FOLA, the album explores ambition, desire, intimacy, and self-discovery, giving Victony the freedom to follow his instincts wherever they lead.
Listen to STARLIFE:
“STARLIFE is me finally letting myself be seen,” says Victony. “I’ve always had so many different influences and different sides of me, and for a long time I think I was trying to separate them. With this album, I stopped asking if everything made sense together and just trusted what felt good to me. I wanted to make music that sounds like everything I listen to, everything I’m feeling, and everything I’m becoming.”
Victony introduced STARLIFE with “FRE$H,” a sleek, luxurious introduction to the album’s new era. Built around polished production and Victony’s fluid delivery, the track reflects the freedom and confidence at the center of the project. He followed with “SLICK,” an experimental collision of R&B, Afrobeats, and Hip-Hop that pairs an R&B chorus with an Afro-inflected verse. The record has become one of Victony’s biggest solo hits to date, surpassing 40.5 million global streams and averaging more than 1.1 million daily streams, with Summer Walker recently putting her own spin on the record with a cover. “SLICK” reached No. 1 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart and Nigeria’s Top 100, marking Victony’s first official solo No. 1 in Nigeria, climbing to No. 2 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Song Chart and hit No. 8 on the Global Shazam Top Songs Chart.
Across STARLIFE, Victony embraces the full range of his musical instincts, often channeling the rich history and legacy of Afrobeats legends to inform his modern sound. Title track “STARLIFE” embodies the album’s high-life fantasy and finds Victony in a world built on luxury, desire, and the payoff of his hard-won success. He carries it all with an easy confidence, painting a picture of a life earned rather than given, where indulgence is the reward. “FYNE” leans into a more sensual confidence, while tracks like “TWIN” featuring FOLA explore connection and intimacy. On “ARMED AND DANGEROUS” featuring Young Jonn, Victony ventures into Afrohouse, adding another dimension to the album’s fluid sonic palette. That willingness to experiment has earned him significant recognition from peers across the continent, including a notable cosign from South African artist Musa Keys, who has credited Victony with helping push Afrobeats forward. The album reflects the tension between the life he has built as a global artist and the familiarity of family and home, but rather than choosing between them, Victony allows both to exist. The result is a project that feels expansive without losing the intimacy and melodic instinct that have always defined his music.
The album follows the rapid trajectory ignited by the 2022 breakout “Soweto”, which has surpassed 1.2 billion global streams and 202 million YouTube views. Its remix featuring Rema and Don Toliver has amassed more than 146 million views, transforming Victony from a breakout Nigerian artist into a global Afrobeats star. “Soweto” earned him a 2023 Headies win for Best Recording of the Year, while subsequent releases expanded his musical world across 2024’s Stubborn, featuring Asake, Saint JHN, Shallipopi, Teezo Touchdown, and Shorae Moore, and 2025’s Very Stubborn, featuring Don Jazzy, Olamide, Terry G, and Shorae Moore. Victony’s influence has continued to expand across music and culture. He has performed for COLORS and featured in BBC, Billboard, The FADER, GRAMMY.com, Teen Vogue, UPROXX, BET, OkayAfrica, PAUSE Magazine, NATIVE, and more. His rise has also earned nominations from the Billboard Music Awards, The Headies, Soundcity MVP Awards, and Clout Africa Awards.
From the breakout of “Soweto” to the evolution of STARLIFE, Victony has defined his career by defying boundaries. STARLIFE is that creative freedom realized—fully unfiltered, fully Victony.
