2007 Green Apple Music Festival | Early Band Confirmations
(3.6.07 update: Full line-up available here)
The 2007 Green Apple Music Festival has expanded to two more cities, Chicago and San Francisco, on top of their inaugural year in New York City. The festival is geared towards raising awareness for Earth Day and kicks off on April 20th.
After digging through some recent tour announcements, we’ve now got early confirmations of at least three five bands slated to play the Chicago portion of the festival:
–Umphrey’s McGee: 4/21 in Chicago (venue TBA) – “performing a very special Green Apple Music Festival show in Chicago; details to come soon”
–Brothers Past – 4/20 and 4/21 @ the Beat Kitchen in Chicago: “returning for a two-night stand at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, as part of the Green Apple Festival”
–Assembly of Dust – 4/20 in Chicago (venue TBA) for the “green apple music festival”)
–Mofro and New Monsoon – 4/20 @ the House of Blues in Chicago
With the expansion to a total of three cities, this “festival” seems to be picking up a decent amount of steam. Anybody hearing rumors about shows in SF or NYC?
(Thanks to Ace and JC for the update tips!)
I have heard through the grapevine that The Loft ( http://www.lovetheloft.com ) will be participating in Green Applefest in Chicago. I hope this is true!!

Ok, none of this is confirmed but here are some shows happening that weekend that could be a part of the fest.
Chicago:
4/20
-Del McCoury Band @ Old Town School of Folk Music
-Mono @ Empty Bottle
-Kaiser Chiefs @ The Vic Theatre
-RJD2 @ Metro
4/21
-Flickerstick @ Double Door
-Little Charlie and the Nightcats @ Legends
I’m figuring some of these have to be a part of the fest since there is a limited amount of venues in Chicago to hold shows, and figuring there will be at least 20 acts playing a night…
In NYC, there are some shows happening at venues that participated last year.
4/20
-Particle @ Bowery Ballroom
-John Mayall @ BB Kings
-Jake Shimabukuro @ Joe’s Pub
-Bomb Squad @ Knitting Factory
-Mike Dillons GoGo Jungle w/The Bridge @ Knitting Factory – Tap Bar
-The Radiators @ Lion’s Den
4/21
-Phix @ BB Kings
-RAQ @ Bowery Ballroom
-Over the Rhine @ Joe’s Pub
-The Radiators @ Lion’s Den
4/22
-Brand New @ Irving Plaza
San Fran:
4/20
-Railroad Earth @ Great American Music Hall
4/21
-Railroad Earth @ Great American Music Hall
-New Mastersounds @ 12 Galaxies
4/22
-Martin Sexton @ Golden Gate Park (confirmed as part of GRMF on website)
We’ll have to see what is confirmed and what isn’t. Any word as to when there will be an official anouncement?

I believe New Monsoon is also playing at the HOB that weekend.
Throw in Cubs-Cardinals and it’s a good weekend!

No problem…I was just scratching my head because…hey, wasn’t I AT the 6th Annual Jammys?!?
Keep your eyes peeled for what I said there though — rumor has it they’re pushing it back because the GAMF will be so spread out this year. I think they should do a Wrestlemania II and have the Jammys in three different cities.
On another note, I think you’ve been a seriously positive addition to Justin’s world here. Keep it flowing…

Ahh, nice catch Ace! I stand corrected and appreciate the input.

Good scoop and all, but the 6th Annual Jammys on 4/20 at MSG was this past year’s show.
I had heard that there was no announcement being made about this year’s concert because they might not have it connected with Green Apple this year (they might push it back ’til much later). Not sure if there’s truth in that or not, but we’ll see…
