Acclaimed as one the most eclectic and venturesome weekends in the gauntlet of summer festivals, the Pitchfork Music Festival 2008 provided Live Music Blog with some very memorable sets but like any festival, a few frustrating moments — see below. Overall it was a solid three days with poor weather descending upon Union Park for only a few hours on Saturday. I was acting as the one man show, photographer, writer and fan, so I couldn’t be everywhere at once and I choose my bands as wisely as possible. These are few shots from the crowd on each day.
A full review of the weekend and pics from Sunday are to follow shortly but for now take in the sights from Saturday at Pitchfork 2008. The highlights from Saturday were definitely !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and Caribou. After a bit of a wait to get the sound right Caribou brought some of the best musicianship all weekend. There were a bunch of new tunes and they sound great. !!! just killed it with energy. Nic was a human dynamo, running all over the stage trying, dancing and trying to show photographers his manhood.
Just a heads up that my Saturday photos only run through late afternoon because I had to run across town to cover the STS9 & Umphrey’s McGee dual bill. I’m sure the evening shows were something special and we’ll try and get some photos from those shows off friends who were there. To say the least it was an exhausting weekend but now that I’ve been sitting in an office all week I’d do it again in a heartbeat! Enjoy the photos.
