We had some rumors before that ended up being about 50% true, and I’m pleased to update those rumors with the official Wakarusa Music Festival lineup announced today.
For anyone in Kansas in June, I’d hope that you’d take advantage of yet another diverse lineup that no one would ever expect to see coming through Kansas…like…ever.

Update (3/17): Sound Tribe Sector Nine (STS9), Moonshine Still, Daniella Cotton, William Elliott Whitmore, Papa Mali, Hot Buttered Rum String Band, Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, Chris Berry and Panjea, Bassnectar, Will Hoge, Full Throttle, White Ghost Shivers, 56 Hope Road, Alfred Howard and the K23 Orchestra, Speakeasy, Hillstomp, Rev. Here’s some more info about the festival straight from the source…
The word “Wakarusa” is a Native American term meaning “ass-deep”. In and around the Lawrence Kansas area, it refers to the Wakarusa River, which is the primary stream that feeds Clinton Lake, the home of the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival. Oddly enough, the river’s average water depth is about “ass-deep”.

The general on-sale is currently scheduled for January 21th, 2006.
NOTE: We have extremely limited quantities available at the “Early Bird” level, so make sure you buy early. Pre-Sale tickets: $89
2006 attendance will be capped at 15,000 tickets sold.
4-day passes include access to all shows and next-to-car general camping.
Children under 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by a parent or guardian possessing an event pass or single day ticket. Children 12 and over will be charged regular admission price and will be required to have a valid ticket for entry. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Violators of this policy will be asked to leave the event.
A park and charity fee will be charged to each ticket purchased.
Note: All sales are final. The 2006 Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival will take place RAIN OR SHINE.
