The second week of Jazzfest is well underway with rainy weather dominating Thursday headlines (despite some stellar performances.) Things are looking dry for the rest of the weekend but attendees should bundle up because a cold front is moving in that could bring record low temps. Those of us cozy at home with FOMO will get a taste of the Big Easy as AXS TV begins all-day TV coverage this afternoon at 12:30PM PST / 3:30PM EST. This is the first time the festival has been on TV and we can thank Mark Cuban and his AXS TV’s continuing commitment to live music for that. They’ll be showing ten hours of Jazz Fest each day. We’re especially looking forward to tonight’s Ben Harper and Charlie Musslewhite set along with what has become Jazz Fest’s unofficial house band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. Saturday features Anders Osborne and Gary Clark Jr., whose performances we can’t wait to store on the DVR (forever) and Sunday is jam-packed with Trombone Shorty, The Meter Men with special guest Page McConnell and Widespread Panic’s rain-drenched set.
Here’s the full slate of artists scheduled to be on air at somepoint this weekend:
Friday:
John Mayer, Willie Nelson & Family, Ben Harper and Charlie Musslewhite, The Nevilles, Gipsy Kings, Laura Bell Bundy, Marc Broussard, Marcia Ball, The Mavericks and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk.
