Today, Dave Grohl filled the big shoes of last year’s keynote speaker Bruce Springsteen at South-by-Southwest, delivering a lengthy keynote speech that touched on Edgar Winter (citing Winter’s iconic “Frankenstein” as the “record that changed my life”), early bedroom multi-tracking experiences at age 12, his time with Nirvana and an unabashed affection for PSY’s “Gangnam Style”, among other topics. Unsurprisingly, given his arena rock prowess and experience playing to the masses, Grohl is quite the eloquent orator and the entire speech is filled with genuine reflections on his career and the inspirations that have driven him to this station in his career.
