Following last night’s killer concert featuring The Bad Plus here in San Fran, I’m following it up with the Robyn show tonight at Bimbo’s 365, quite possible the best example of an artistic antithesis of tBP. My new roommate out here is into this, which didn’t surprise me given her other taste in music. But when she showed me the video above, I was all, “okay this is pretty sweet; i’m definitely in to check out this concert” Then I learned that Pitchfork and Stereogum have a bit ga-ga over Robyn for a while, which kind of hints at my superb ability to filter out a lot of noise on the music blogs that I tend to read skim day in and day out.
As I write this post, I’m traveling on the shuttle home and reading snippets around the web on what she’s all about. I just stumbled upon this little passage in the Pitchfork interview she did earlier this year:
I think the San Francisco show was probably the craziest, because it was a really small club. It was packed with a super-drunk gay audience. And I had…what are they called, furries? A gang of people dressed up in animal costumes.
Well, I guess I know what to expect now. I’m definitely a lot more excited than I was 20 minutes ago. How often does one get to party with furries anyway?
