At last night’s Phish show at Deer Creek the band busted out “Maze” in the encore slot but it was way different than a normal version. Similar to how the band plays with the speed on “Llama,” this version was done in a slower, funkier style while the band did their best to retain some of the standard elements that make the song great.
Pretty cool that it was reported widely as something that fans had heard at soundcheck earlier in the day, and we definitely didn’t expect to see it played the same night. I love it when the band keeps the fans on their toes.
