Phish recently returned to the shores at the Barcelo Riviera Maya for their 2019 excursion vacation festival, and after a few of the bust-outs plus some of the top-shelf playing, it was clear to all the fans that the run was a giant success.
On the third and final night, I could feel that the band was a bit frantic and not as patient compared to other nights, which I think resulted in the crazy six-song encore to close the entire set of shows, but ahead of that the band was finding some grooves deep in the second set after a “Fuego” and “Tweezer” got the crowd swaying hard like the palm trees.
Once “Tweezer” got quiet, Trey dropped an effect-laden riff opening up “Carini” and everything got interesting there. Not the longest one in memory, but one that finds some beauty pretty quickly. Check it out.
