Wicker Park Music Festival
Chicago, IL
The Duo came out and tuned up right at 6:15 p.m. Most street festivals like this usually need to be run on time. No exception; they started right at 6:30 p.m. with Becky. Between the two of them and the fact that they looked so nonchalant tuning up, the wall of sound just erupted and never really stopped that bad…
I loved the way these two guys played together. They face each other and basically shoot each other funny faces all throughout their set. I’m sure Ace can attest to a lot of this.
Now, the music was unbelievable. We didn’t stick around to see Mofro, although I’m sure it would have been alright. I just wasn’t unbelievably impressed with their latest album, at least not enough to stay around when I could be out somewhere else. Also, I wasn’t fully impressed with the live art that was going on while they played. It just didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. Other than that, one great set from The Duo and probably plenty of great other stuff to report as they stayed in town for other Silver Wrapper events.
