Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers made a stop to the funky retro (and dimly lit) Beauty Bar in Downtown Las Vegas last Sunday night. Bluhm is touring in support of her latest self titled album debut, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers. The band put on a rare intimate show at this grungy, beauty parlor / trailer park themed venue. This was a late Sunday night show; the small crowd was in for a treat as I have seen this band sell out much larger venues. The band (minus Nicki’s husband Tim Bluhm) played tunes from their entire collection including “Toby’s Song,” “Keep it Loose” and “I’m Your Woman” from their 2008 album, Toby’s Song. Tracks from their latest album included “Til I’m Blue”, “Go Go Go”, “Little Too Late” and also the crowd pleaser, “Jetplane” off 2011’s Driftwood. Covers included one of Bluhm’s idols, Linda Rondstat, with their take on “You’re No Good”, the Easy Leaves “Another Rolling Stone” and a classic “Piece of my Heart”. The band closed the night with “Burnt” off 2008’s Toby’s Song which is a funky outro song showcasing Bluhm’s vocal ranges and a sweet solo by guitarist Deren Ney. I got video from that one below:
Catch these guys on the tail end of the tour, you won’t be disappointed!
