Built in 1929, the renovated North Park Theatre sits in the middle of what many people call the center of the beer universe right now. Tucked behind the popular West Coast Tavern which dishes out craft beer and and a full menu of mac ‘n cheese offerings, this venue is bringing a much needed live music aspect to this neighborhood. And last night, on this “cold for San Diego” night, nearly 1,000 hipsters, rock and hip-hop fans packed into this small and sold-out stop along the 22-date Flying Lotus You’re Dead! tour for a night of serious music and visual stimulation.
Fellow label mate and LA native Thundercat opened the night with baselines and drum beats reminiscent of Charlie Hunter getting the young crowd warmed up for the main act.
