British post-punk band Savages have grabbed the music scene by the ears and screamed directly in it’s face. The female foursome of Jehnny Beth, Gemma Thompson, Ayse Hassan and Fay Milton have been on a mission since they released their first single “Shut Up” off of their debut album Silence Yourself. That mission is very clearly evidenced by their loud and lively performance style as well as their signs posted around the venue. Savages, among other bands, are interested in bringing the intimacy back to live concerts and the cell phones need to be put away. Audience members are asked to just watch and listen as the band tears down the stage for the next hour or so. Is that to much to ask? Didn’t think so.
When I took these pictures I felt the need to use black and white or very muted colors in my images to preserve the mood that they conveyed as well as the image featured on the album art for Silence Yourself. Check out the gallery below.
