A day after appearing at the second weekend of the Austin City Limits festival, Nashville’s Moon Taxi ended the first leg of their fall tour in support of their latest LP Daybreaker at the Civic Theatre in downtown New Orleans. It’s been an exciting year of rapid growth for the Music City quintet marked by a new record, a slot alongside My Morning Jacket in their hometown at the new riverfront Ascend Amphitheater and a huge show on the horizon next month at Atlanta’s historic Tabernacle. Saturday night’s energetic set mostly highlighted material from their last two records and Daybreaker, with leanings towards more industrial and electronically refined sounds and still boasting some of the most refined chops in the nebulous ‘indie’ music galaxy.
