Seeing the photos from Girl Talk at Monolith reminded me of an idea I had to get some posts up that I long since forgot. See, sometimes when I go to a show, there’s not always an obvious sentiment that I get from it. I have no clear takeaway. I know myself that sometimes words can’t really do full justice for a show, so sometimes a photographic memory of the show will do. I’ve gone to so many shows over the years that I haven’t ever posted about, and I wanted to create a space for the flush of nostalgia that can occur when you’re looking through the photos on your hard drive or you discover a YouTube video from a show you saw years back that just now got uploaded. So we’ll call these posts a Flashback and welcome you to contribute to such an endeavor. Got some old photos from a great show that never saw the light of day? Send them our way with some words to accompany and we’ll try to help you keep the nostalgia alive. It could be cool for new fans of whatever band you’re writing about, or maybe it could be cool for someone that was at that same show and never saw those photos you took. Whatever the case, I think it’s relevant for how I consume music and it’s worth reflecting on your past experiences from time to time.
