Umphrey’s McGee did a five-night New Year’s Eve run (!) this year in Atlanta at the Tabernacle, and our friend Abby Fox was on hand to shoot the shows. I asked for her favorite photos from the weekend, and what she delivers pretty much proves that UM is a band you really shouldn’t be taking for granted these days. Here are 45 reasons why this run for the books…
45. The Venue
The Tabernacle in Atlanta has hosted many-a-New-Year’s run from the likes of STS9, Bassnectar and even Umphrey’s McGee previously, so it was a safe bet to book five nights and get comfortable for a multi-day throwdown…
44-43. The Band
Nice to see them celebrating a year of hard work together…
42-38. The Shredding
Many jambands could try, but few can shred as hard as UM can. \mm/
37-34. The Robes
On night four of the run, the band came out and did the encore of “Glory” and “Slacker” in robes because they were feeling pretty comfortable.
33-29. The Balloon Drop
Nothing like a good balloon/confetti drop…
28. The Drum Section of Kris Myers and Andy Farag
Holding it down…
27-26. Ryan “Pony” Stasik
Always a ham…(or pony…)
25-24. Jake Cinninger
Always focused, always rocking…
23-21. Brendan Bayliss
Happy man this run…
20. Jefferson Waful!
He cleans up goooooooood…
19-6. Speaking of Waful…The Lights!
The man takes his job seriously, and it shows…
5-1. Last but not least…The Fans! (The Umphreaks!)
By all accounts, some of the most loyal and ferociously passionate fans in the scene…
