Phish will re-release Billy Breathes on vinyl this upcoming October 26, right in the middle of the band’s little fall tour ahead of their Halloween run. The 180g 2-LP audiophile black vinyl set is available with some good new #merch like t-shirts, turntable slip mats and other items in special bundles. You can pre-order here.
It’s sorta taking on a new set of memories for me seeing this get an official re-release, as this has always been my favorite Phish studio album and it deserves a full vinyl treatment in my personal collection. And it’s awesome to think that Steve Lillywhite had such an effect on the band and in my opinion brought a new level of attention to songwriting that I’m not sure the band had before it.
Billy Breathes was recorded and mixed in 1996 at Bearsville Studios by John Siket and Steve Lillywhite, and was produced by Phish and Lillywhite. Billy Breathes was originally mastered by Bob Ludwig and released by Elektra on CD and cassette October 15, 1996. The single, “Free”, charted and the album went on to be certified Gold.
