Willie Nelson just announced the inaugural Outlaw Music Festival Tour, a follow up to last year’s Outlaw Music Festival in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Glad to see this one is getting some roadies behind it as Nelson is taking this show on the road and adding some killllllller support to the dates he’s got lined up. A rotating cast will support the Willie Nelson & Family headlining slot with shows announced in New Orleans, Dallas, Rogers, AR (where the hell is that), Detroit, Milwaukee (for Summerfest), and finally Syracuse, NY to finish off the mini-tour (although we’re told more dates are coming).
While all the supporting artists are ones that we’re pretty partial to — Avett Bros! Jason Isbell! Bob Dylan! — we’d be lying if we said we aren’t most excited about seeing My Morning Jacket‘s name on that final date in Syracuse. I’ll never complain seeing them book dates out on the horizon, and I particularly like that they’re continuing to pair up with their elders on tours that really allow them to bring some of their inspirations to life via the aritsts they grew up with.
