Wilco, who began curating their own music & arts festival in 2010 are gearing up to headline the third edition on June 21st at Mass MOCA in North Adams, MA. This morning, Wilco added even more intrigue and excitement to their sets with this unique announcement:
Wilco’s Friday night set at Solid Sound will be comprised exclusively of fan-requested songs, including covers. The band will take song submissions in advance and promises to learn 50 of those songs for the festival. Then, during the concert, approximately 20 songs will be selected live, at random, for Wilco to perform. This is the first-ever all-request concert by Wilco. It may also be the last.
We can already see into the future, Jeff Tweedy remarking about all the hippie-votes for “China Cat Sunflower” and “Tweezer.” Read the rest of the announcement from Wilco and stay tuned for details on how to vote. Early-bird and single-day passes are on sale now. Medeski Martin & Wood, Yo La Tango, White Denim, Low (Tweedy helped produce their latest) and some awesome Wilco related side-projects are scheduled to perform at the fest.
