It’s the Monday following a busy festival weekend — Vegoose and Voodoo were both this past weekend — and early reports are streaming in from Vegoose…
Spin is covering Vegoose extensively — more so than any other site that I’ve found — so head on over to their Vegoose 2006 page for links to the articles already wrapping up the shows at the fest…
- Dave Matthews: A Safe Bet in Vegas
- Cat Power’s Moves: ‘The Greatest’
- Coup-De-La
- Raconteurs Kick Out the Jams
- From Marley to Mars
- Don’t Pity Our Petty Party
- The Killers Come Home
- The Killer and Cat Power Grab the Hot Seat
- I Do, Vegoose
- Apple’s Set a Parting Gift
- Band of Horses, Jamie Lidell: The Early Bird’s Worm
- Jenny Lewis, Ben Folds Know Solo
Andy Gadiel (JamBase, Gadiel’s Phish Blog) was there and was bloggin’ his way through the festival just like Spin had reporters doing. Some highlights for him…
I managed to enjoy some crap table time before the encore and as our one shooter hit his 5th point in a row, we celebrated, and the streams of fans poured out of the arena to cheer on with us.
Saturday was the longest day of all time. Toubab Krewe started it off impressively, and Gomez played their hearts out to an early crowd. From Praxis to Cat Power, The Coup and Yard Dogs – the day was starting out with an electric array of bands. MMW layed the grooved down as Yonder Mountain played their last show of the tour.
Ranconteurs are the the rockingest band of all time. Keller Williams Incident brought some heat and clever covers — The Mars Volta shreaded, The Black Crowes and Petty played all the hits.
Mr. Starman himself, zzyzx, was there and he looks to be having a darn good time. His first couple posts on the fest are entertaining; his conversation with Mike and how Trey’s set was too noodly — hilarious…
Relix and Jambands.com have posted some updates from the festival, too. Cold Turkey, the podcasting duo of Mike Greenhaus and Benjy Eisen, was there at the festival and one of their shows has already been posted. They posted a roundup of the Trey / Phil & Friends activity throughout the weekend and a mini-blurb on the String Cheese Incident “Welcome to the Jungle” show — featuring acrobatics and some choice covers to fill the stadium. Also, they produced the print newspaper for the festival and they’ve ripped the paper to PDF for all of us digitas to enjoy. Here’s Saturday and Sunday.
Did you get towed at Vegoose?
Pauly of Tao of Pauly was there and was doing some bloggin’ on his Phish Coventry blog. “Perhaps it was due to the late time of the show, but a lot of people in the corwd were drunk. Very drunk which borderlined on annoying. One dude passed out and hit the floor. His friends had to carry him out and he puked on a guy standing near us.” Sounds like a blast at the Trey show, alright!
More updates to come as I find them…
