U2 just performed live on the Apple Live event where they unveiled the new iPhone 6 as well as the iWatch. No strangers to partnering with Apple in the past, that part wasn’t all that surprising.
What was surprising is that the single they debuted is part of a new LP called Songs of Innocence, and Bono stayed on stage with Tim Cook after the performance to talk about how they can get their album out to everyone. Then they announced that they’ll be making this album available as a FREE download through iTunes, but what’s more, they’ll be essentially giving it to people and making it available via one click. Given that iTunes boasts over 500M users, this essentially makes it the widest album release ever conducted and it all went down on stage in the span of 10 minutes.
