Trey Anastasio was one of the featured musical guests yesterday on Chris Thile‘s Live from Here show that runs across the country on APM’s syndication network. Lots of new fans could crop up from this one as the Phish frontman took stabs at old songs like “If I Could” and “Theme from the Bottom” and re-arranged them to fit with Chris Thile, Wynton Marsalis and Sarah Jarosz.
One of the newer Phish compositions, “Blaze On,” got a full-on jazz orchestra re-arrangement that blew everyone away, and the “If I Could” with Anastasio and Jarosz trading verses is absolutely spine-tinglingly beautiful.
