Phish, now in their 30th year as a band (unless you subtract those pesky hiatus years) just dropped the dates for their 2013 Summer Tour. The band announced the 25-date tour (EAST to WEST) with their traditional announcement video. The eery “Apocalyptic” video and it’s soundtrack are reminiscent of a Phish soundcheck pulled from the archives. Can you guess which one?
The tour kicks off July 3rd in Bangor, Maine, hits up the normal summer sheds at SPAC, Jones Beach, Merriweather and The Gorge, then wraps up August 5th in Los Angeles, CA at the historic Hollywood Bowl (@ChrisCK5 smiles in agreement). The band will take a month off and for the third year in a row host Dicks Sporting Goods Park over Labor Day Weekend to close out the summer season. Check out the full intineary, including three nights on Chicago’s Northerly Island in the middle of July and three SF Bay dates (“Ride Captain Ride”) in August. Check out the announcement video and ticket info after the jump.

Tickets are on sale at Phish Tickets By Mail (PTBM) right now with public onsales beginning in two weeks. Dates that immediately stand out are the tour opener in Bangor, ME on the waterfront, the festival-type camping event on Northerly Island in Chicago (more details to come) and pretty much all the dates out West. Starting July 26th the band makes a return to The Gorge, WA for two can’t miss nights then heads south to scenic Lake Tahoe for two intimate general admission shows at Harvey’s before returning to San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for three nights and of course August 5th at the Bowl. This will be Phish’s 2nd appearence under Hollywood’s shell after their debut their in 2011. With less dates focusing on the east coast this summer, one should expect a lengthy fall tour (fingers crossed!) especially as we close in on that always-important December 2nd — 30th Anniversary date. Good luck in the lottery!
FUN FACT: The beer on Fish’s bedside table in the tour announcement video with the “July 3” Bangor date on the label is a knockoff of Vietnam’s 333 Premium, a brand based in Ho Chi Minh City. Another in a list of subtle and not so subtle references to Apocalypse Now.
