Really excited to see the news that the team behind The Complete Last Waltz is staging an East Coast version of their epic night of recreating the final concert from The Band — forever and partially immortalized in The Last Waltz film — which originally came together this past Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco. The show in SF was incredible and featured an all-star cast of some of my favorite musicians coming together to create a really special evening of music. Lots of singing along. Lots of passionate playing. It was just one of those perfect shows, so it’s great to see them bring it to the East Coast this time around. They’ll be hosting a similar cast of characters this time and they’ll be bringing this show to the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on November 23rd.
Here’s the official news via Jambands.com:
A number of musicians will come together to celebrate The Band’s Last Waltz concert at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theater on November 23. Billed as The Complete Last Waltz, the concert will recreate the original Band’s final show. The evening is a sequel to a similar concert held in San Francisco last November. Many of the musicians involved in that performance will reprise their roles on November 23, including Joe Russo, Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds), Cass McCombs, Marco Benevento, Scott McMicken (Dr Dog), Eric Slick (Dr Dog), Dave Dreiwitz (Ween), Stuart Bogie, John Altieri, Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats), Andy Cabic (Vetiver), Josh Kaufman (Yellowbirds), Ira Elliot (Nada Surf), Alecia Chakour and Binky Griptite (The Dap Kings). Furthur/RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti will also join the ensemble. Several musicians will serve as the show’s house band while others will appear as special guests on select songs. Here’s a look at the concert’s current lineup
