The slogan for the Stagecoach Music Festival is “California’s Country Music Festival” but before you turn off your ears to start telling me that the only genre of music you don’t listen to is country, take a minute to think about what it means to be country in the twenty-first century. With genres blending here and there, country today has a face which is far more than just boots, twang and sad old rhymes. There’s alt-country music and pop country and progressive country; there’s country that speaks about vengeful love and country that takes on the socio-political issues of the day. And let’s face it, with tight jeans on both genders, country’s got some of the hottest live stuff in the business. So consider checking out Stagecoach before you write off a whole genre of music.
