Have you made your plan for Halloween yet? I just found out that I’ll be hitting the Umphrey’s McGee two-night run here in San Francisco, which they’re dubbing a “Monster Mash-Up” kinda affair. I’ll be leaving my body and soul at the door and plan on dressing up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, although I’m not sure which one yet. This will make sense when I’m obnoxiously shouting for the band to play “All Things Ninja.”
That same weekend, the South Padre International Music Festival is taking place and will feature Willie Nelson, Ghostland Observatory, Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult, and more. I’m not sure that’s the hottest lineup or anything that would make me miss the UM show, but if you’re in the area it’s bound to be a good time.
The festival will be spread out over more than 10 venues across the island, giving festival-goers a chance to spend their Halloween weekend on warm, white sand beaches filled with outstanding performances by top-notch artists. One thing that really makes South Padre International unique compared to other music festivals is that you can even find time to try out windsurfing, kiteboarding, scuba diving, sea kayaking, and deep-sea fishing in addition to the vibrant nightlife.
If that strikes your fancy this could be a fun thing to check out. Read on for the full lineup.
