You’re going to be reading a lot of music festival lineups around the blogs over the next couple days, with this site being no exception to the music blogger rules of engagement. It seems there’s been a nice backlog of annual music festivals that are just now getting around to announcing their major acts for this year’s lineup, and as always, the dizzying amount of information, locales, vacation day requests and possible stage conflicts can be a lot to throw at any good, blog-reading audience. It’s natural to get a little burnt-out on the barrage of info, but keep in mind that these are months away and require a significant amount of planning and collaboration with friends to really pull off successfully.
With all that said and already known if this isn’t your first year around a music blog, here’s one to get planning for if you’re a fan of the current state of indie rock. Sasquatch! Music Festival just announced that R.E.M., The Cure, and the Flaming Lips are going to be headlining this year’s lineup, with Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, M.I.A., and Michael Franti & Spearhead — arguably the most underground indie band on the entire lineup — rounding out the rest of the major acts. The festival is set for Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26) at the beautiful Gorge Ampitheatre in Quincy, WA.
Read on for the full lineup. I’d be into this one if I had nothing else going on, but this also lacks a certain amount of jamability that I’d expect in the festivals that know to keep diversifying their lineup offering.
