Rick Moranis (Parenthood, Ghostbusters) has released his first ever CD entitled The Agoraphobic Cowboy, and the songs are very country and very kitschy. Truth is, the two songs I’ve listened to so far (the only two choices on the sample music player) are actually pretty catchy. Hell, it almost sounds a little Mike Gordon-like (think Inside In), and I’m actually somewhat impressed as I listen to it.
His inspiration?
I began to hear traditional, bluegrass and jam-band coming from their [his children] rooms. They played me Phish, Jack Johnson, Widespread Panic, Moe, Stringcheese Incident and my favorite, Yonder Mountain Stringband. I also heard music they’d forgotten I’d played for them many years before– The Band’s “Music from Big Pink” and “The Last Waltz.”
I’m posting my first Rick Moranis rumor ever as a result–RICK MORANIS AT BONNAROO 2006. I’m callin’ it. This guy is soooo poised to make a serious movie comeback as a result, too. I can’t wait.
