It’s been twenty years since their last, but Pink Floyd will apparently release a new album this Fall. David Gilmour’s wife tweeted the surprising news on July 5th that the album will be called The Endless River based on the 1994 sessions involving the late Richard Wright. Confirming the news was singer Durga McBroom-Hudson (who sang backup with Floyd in the 80’s and 90’s) who updated her Facebook page with a photo and news that she’s been recording with David Gilmour, Sarah Brown and Louise Clare Marsha.
McBroom-Hudson goes on to say “The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled “The Big Spliff” that Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then…It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them.”
Pink Floyd news-site Brain-Damage says Roger Waters WILL NOT be involved and no tour should be expected. A formal announcement is expected sometime this week. We’ll have more on this developing story.
Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful.
