If you’re like many people and in theory most people trying to get tickets today for the return of Phish at Hampton Coliseum in March, you probably got shut out. There’s a comment on Hidden Track at 10:04am saying that he was already screwed out of tickets, so it appears that the three-night run is officially ready to be let loose. Now we only have five months to five months to wait.
In the meantime, maybe we can try to get the band to allow the event to be shared by all of the fans across the country that have been eagerly awaiting the return of the band’s first notes. I highly doubt they’re going to come back with “Piper” like they did at Madison Square Garden in 2002. “The Curtain With” is a solid bet, and I tell you — I really want to see this band walk out on stage via webcast or simulcast or at least streaming audio webcast rather than see a text update from one of my Twitter friend’s saying “OMFG they opened with ______.”
I just got an email from a fan that put together a petition. I say we sign it.
Dear Phish and Red Light Management,
This morning, 10/18/08, thousands of Phish phans got shut out of tickets by ticketmaster. Please sign a deal to simulcast at theaters and/or other arenas, your March 6th comeback performance or the whole Hampton run. There are a lot of folks that have supported you guys for many years and should be a part of this landmark show. Just because they couldn’t enter a security check faster than others shouldn’t mean that they can’t enjoy these shows. I believe this would not only benefit the phans but would also help the city of Hampton by not having thousands of ticketless phans descending upon Hampton that weekend. We all want to share in the groove, so please make this happen!
In the words of the Obamaniacs across the country, YES WE CAN!. YES WE CAN!
