I hope you’re sitting down when you read this news: Phish is taking us back to Gamehendge for their next Dinner And A Movie livestream celebration coming this Tuesday, August 4th.
The band will show the last time they played the famed suite of music that Trey Anastasio delivered as his senior thesis in college, the thing that basically formed the basis of all the inside jokes and mythology surrounding that characters that show up in Phish songs and setlists to this day 30+ years later.
Specifically, the date of the show was July 8, 1994 and they were at Great Woods in Mansfield, MA when they delivered the epic run during the first set following the “Llama” opener and a foray into the weird with “NO2”. Based on the setlist you can see on Phish.net, that second set is no snoozer either.
SET 1: Llama -> NO2[1] > The Lizards > Tela > Wilson > AC/DC Bag > Colonel Forbin’s Ascent > Fly Famous Mockingbird > The Sloth > McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters > Divided Sky
SET 2: Rift > Sample in a Jar, Reba[2], Yerushalayim Shel Zahav > It’s Ice > Stash, You Enjoy Myself -> Frankenstein -> You Enjoy Myself, Julius > Golgi Apparatus
ENCORE: Nellie Kane > Cavern
[1] Fish on vacuum.
[2] No whistling.
The first set included the complete Gamehendge saga, including narration between songs from NO2 through Divided Sky. NO2 featured Fish on vacuum. Reba contained Manteca teases and did not have the whistling ending. This version of Stash appears on A Live One. Mike teased Frankenstein during the bass and drums segment of YEM.
CAN’T. WAIT.
The recipe will probably be a bit overlooked on this one, but Page gets the honors and picked a “chicken on a stick” recipe with a few options for adding to the palate. Check it out here and tune in below on Tuesday for the show.
