Phish continued their summer tour in Charlotte, North Carolina’s PNC Music Pavilion.
The band was webcasting the show via the I Saw It Again summer webcast pass and had just came off two unique nights, first in Toronto and then in Blossom, both featuring unique setlists, song choices that hadn’t surfaced yet this year, and a “Birds of a Feather” for the Best Of Ever lists. You can watch that BOAF here.
As for tonight’s show, it started and ended strong as hell. Super creative song and setlist choices. “Have Mercy” and “Ginseng Sullivan” both hadn’t appeared in a while, and then the early “Tweezer” with a great transition right into “Passing Through” was a welcome addition to the setlist rotation. Then after a great “Mercury” the band returned into a “Tweezer” jam and vibe before moving into a ripping Kasvot Växt set closer of “Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S.”
Set two featured a fantastic and patient “Runaway Jim” to start the set before moving into “Scents and Subtle Sounds,” which somehow found it’s way frantically into “Tweezer” again (awesomely, I should add) before getting to “Sand”. A set slowdown of “Lifeboy” was a great choice, and fully great set of songs to follow with a “Possum” set ender. The encore featured a soaring “More” and a straight-up “Tweezer Reprise” to close it out. Great show.
