OSCARS 2013: Adele, Norah Jones, Jennifer Hudson and cast of "Les Miz" set to perform

We’re just hours away from the 85th edition of the Academy Awards and thankfully live music will once again be a large part of the ceremony after last year’s odd absence from film’s biggest night. The moment most are anticipating is Adele’s first ever live performance of her hit song, “Skyfall.” It will be interesting to see if Adele can win both a Grammy and Oscar so close together. “Skyfall” is easily the most popular of the nominees but Bond films, despite success, have had a tough time winning.

For fans of Broadway music, “Les Miserables” may just steal the show if reports out of rehearsals prove accurate. Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter will all be sharing the stage for a few numbers. There will also be a segment dedicated to Broadway including Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson.

Host Seth MacFarlane’s Best Song nominee “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” (Ted) will be performed by the lovely Norah Jones and Barbara Streisand is scheduled to perform, we just don’t know in what capacity yet. The Academy is also set to salute James Bond’s 50th Anniversary with a performance of 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever” by Shirley Bassey. We’ll also be looking forward to seeing if John Williams, who has been nominated 48 times over his career, will add another Oscar to his collection for his score in Lincoln.
