It’s almost a trope at this point like the Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy thing that the new album from Tool is “almost done” or “coming soon” or “mostly finished” and frankly we’re all a bit tired of covering a reveal like this in such a slow prodding fashion, but this weekend the drummer Danny Carey may have let the cat out of the bag just a little farther.
In this video below, you can hear a fan chatting him up about drum stuff at the NAMM show before Carey mentions that the new album is due out in April. “That’s the plan”…

The guy in the video immediately realizes the journalistic grab he just got and turns to the camera saying “Uh oh new news about Tool”. Let’s hope it actually happens this year.
