FESTIVALS
Memorial Day weekend finds New Monsoon at Summercamp in Chillicothe, ILL, for two shows on Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27. New Monsoon will also close the mainstage of SmileFest that same weekend in Asheville, NC, on May 28. Other notable festivals in June include the Chilli Pepper Music Festival in Snowmass, CO, as well as two slots at the Wakarusa Music Festival, and the Taos Solar Music Festival. After a busy June touring around the West coast, as far East as Kansas, the band returns home, after a one year hiatus, to the High Sierra Music Festival, playing late nite with Keller Williams on Thursday June 30, and on the mainstage on Friday, July 1. And New Monsoon has just been added to Jamcruise 4, tickets go on sale May 27, which sets sail January 2006.
They are playing Summercamp as well. This will be my first chance to catch them, so I’m definitely going to wander over to the stage while they’re playing for my first live taste of New Monsoon. I like the music that I’ve heard, but I’ve never been blown away by what I hear. I’ve never been knocked on my ass, so I’m hoping that I will be blown away–knocked on my ass–while at Summercamp. Is that too much to wish for?
