At Saturday night’s BottleRock Music Festival closer, Neil Young was finishing off the headlining sets with his Promise of the Real and they were taking their usual rocker “Keep On Rockin’ in the Free World” for a full spin at the end of the show, while the crew must have been signaling for him to get off for a bit because they ended up cutting his sound at the end.
You can watch a clip of the “full” song below.
As you can see, the crowd really helped them fill in the gaps. At 8 minutes in, right as the strict-as-hell curfew of 10pm rolled around, the sound through the main PA definitely gets nixed and drowned out by the cheers of fans singing along and making it heard that they wanted to see Neil off stage in fine fashion, sound guys be damned. Go Neil! I’m sure those sound guys were pissed, though. LOL.
Here’s the setlist of what else he played prior to the closer…
