Rolling Stone has reported that famed Rush drummer Neil Peart has passed away following a silent battle with brain cancer. The band has confirmed the horrible news, as well.
Following Rush’s final major world tour, their 40th Anniversary together as a band, Peart announced he was stepping away from the kit and wouldn’t be playing drums in the project anymore. Bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson went on never explicitly saying they wouldn’t all make music together again, but that the Rush you’d see live would never include Peart again.
“Rest in peace brother” closes the note the band posted today confirming Peart’s passing on January 7, 2020.
