Last night Spin Cycle Presents produced one helluva jam session in Santa Monica, CA. It featured some of the community’s finest musicians in an intimate 80-100 person venue aptly named TRiP. Marcus Rezak called this project Cosmik Playground Superjam and it lived up to that billing. Arthur Barrow (Zappa), Jason Hann (SCI), Joel Cummins (Umphreys), Marcus Rezak (Stratosphere All-Stars, FlightWave) and Jesse Clayton (FlightWave) traded ideas all night and somehow infused “Shakedown Street” with some Zappa styled improv. This was impressive considering it was the first time they’ve played together as a unit.
