Not sure how we missed this news until now but one of our favorite artists, Jonathan Wilson just released a new EP titled Pity Trials and Tomorrow’s Child made up of three cover tracks. The first tune is a cover of George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity” and has guest vocals by Graham Nash. There’s also Happy Traum’s “Trails of Jonathan” and an awesome take on Apryl Fool’s “Tomorrow’s Child” where Wilson’s psych-folk blend shines. The new EP continues to demonstrate why Wilson is one to keep an ear on in 2013 and beyond. You can download Pity Trials and Tomorrow’s Child from iTunes or stream it on Spotify.
Jonathan Wilson will also welcome new friend Bob Weir, Benmont Tench, Jackson Browne and Mike Campbell for a sold out holiday jam-a-thon at The Troubadour in Hollywood, CA on December 20th. Wilson has developed a relationship with Weir this year since playing at the 70th birthday tribute to Jerry Garcia at Bob Weir’s San Rafael, CA TRI Studios on August 3, 2012.
Wilson is currently busy working on his second LP with no due date set. He recently served as a producer on one of 2012’s best albums, Father John Misty’s Fear Fun. If you’re brand new to Jonathan Wilson’s work, we always suggest starting with this awesome 14-minute live clip which starts with the standout track “Desert Raven” from 2011’s Gentle Spirit.
