It looks like Chicago won’t be the only city celebrating The Grateful Dead this Summer. With Fare Thee Well selling out and setting Ticketmaster on-sale records you had to wonder if more events would capitalize on the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary. Two days ago Peter Shapiro came out and said “There’s no extra dates planned. For Chicago or anywhere else” but that just meant from his end. Today, Black Bird Music Group announced ‘Dear Jerry: Celebrating the Music of Jerry Garcia’ for May 14th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland. All four surviving members (Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh) will play with their respective bands as well as Bruce Hornsby, David Grisman, Widespread Panic, the Disco Biscuits, Moe., Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, Eric Church, Buddy Miller, Los Lobos, O.A.R., Yonder Mountain String Band, Jimmy Cliff, Trampled By Turtles and more. Tickets go on sale Friday March 13 at 10am ET via ticketfly.com.
