Sad news out of Canada today. Jeff Healey, one of the most distinctive guitarists I have ever heard, passed away in a Toronto hospital on Sunday. He was 42. Having lost his eyesight to retinal cancer at the age of one, Healey battled various forms of the disease throughout his life.
Healey developed a unique style of playing his guitar, laying it across his lap. Although , in recent years he had devoted himself to exploring early American jazz. If you’ve never seen the man in action, check out this clip of the Jeff Healey Band doing Roadhouse Blues.
