Katie got me the Kraftwerk Minimum-Maximum DVD for my birthday — I can finally relive the magic that was Kraftwerk live. Pick up this DVD; you won’t be sorry!
The Secret Machines have announced that they’re playing a Lollapalooza aftershow at the Darkroom in Chicago. I’ve updated my aftershows post.
Tortoise has announced a few fall tour dates, and I’m hoping to get a chance to see them in Chicago this time around (no dates for Chicago yet announced). For some reason I’ve never been hugely into Tortoise until recently so I’ve never caught them live.
Don’t forget about the Live Music Blog forums — I still need to work them into the navigation and create a new button for this so make sure you bookmark the page in the meantime…
The lineup for moe.down 7 has been finalized. Check it.
I actually got two different emails yesterday from two different people telling me that I’ve got to check out Scrapomatic. They’re playing a couple dates this week out East:
- July 27 – Mexicali Blues in nj
- July 28 – Towne Crier Cafe in upstate ny
- July 29 – Ridgefield Playhouse in CT
- July 30 – Castaways in ithaca, NY (right near my school!
And a lasting link of the day that’ll take you a while to read, New City Chicago profiles the Pitchfork Music Festival, Lollapalooza and Warped Tour in one massive A-Z listing. A couple highlights…
“The Disco Biscuits — Philadelphia jam band that fuses electronics with guitar jams. If you can’t think of anything worse, you’re not alone. (Lollapalooza)”
“Umphrey’s McGee — Local jam band that unforgivably suffers from self-obsessed pride–they post set lists on their Web site. And what the f*** is up with that name? (Lollapalooza) ”
“The Raconteurs — The endlessly overrated Jack White tries a band with a decent drummer, but the results are still forgettable. (Lollapalooza)”
Sometimes we critics (if I’d ever really call myself that) really have no friggin’ clue what we’re talking about. Just remember that.
