The lineup for this year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival has been announced. The annual free festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park hardly ever disappoints anyone that has anything close to good taste in music, and this year’s star-studded lineup is no different at all in that respect. Legends like Dwight Yoakam, Rosanne Cash, Chris Isaak, T Bone Burnett, Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys, Mavis Staples, and John Prine join LIVE faves like Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, and Jonathan Wilson for a full weekend here in the park; we also see some amazing stuff like Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and the new Tweedy side project on the lineup. All in all, it’s an obvious YES for anyone thinking of being in the Bay Area around those dates.
The festival kicks off on Friday, October 3rd with daytime programming (and usually an annual MC Hammer gospel set somewhere) and continues through Sunday, October 5th. As always, the three-day celebration will be free.
