How fitting it was that Ken Hayes, the founder of Gathering Of The Vibes, took stage between acts on Saturday evening at the Deep Banana Blackout and Kung Fu show at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester in NY to announce the lineup for his 19 year old summer festival. Announcing in that forum makes sense considering that both bands will be on this year’s lineup, and along with those two he called out the names of several other legends, fellow festival staples and new artists alike. Widespread Panic, moe., John Fogerty, Umphrey’s McGee, and tons more.
After just recently announcing that they will be taking the year off from their own beloved summer festival (Camp Bisco), the jamtronica heroes Disco Biscuits will headline accompanied by the Grateful Dead’s Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart for what will no doubt will be a killer set of music. In a different “Dead” light, Keller Williams will collaborate with Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band) and Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) as Grateful Grass, in performing his “anything-but-traditional bluegrass versions of Grateful Dead favorites.” And what would a festival late night be these days without the likes of Dopapod?!
