The first all-access documentary about the life and times of Frank Zappa will debut at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival. Director Alex Winter, who you know as Bill S. Preston, Esq. from Bill & Ted’s, will debut the film which was crafted from hundreds of hours of material that had been stored for decades and unseen by the public, with Ahmet Zappa as part of the production team.
Ahmet Zappa spoke with Rolling Stone about the film, which is “by far the most intimate and expansive look into the innovative life of Frank Zappa, narrated by Frank in his own words.” He went onto say that “it’s quite unbelievable what Alex has achieved” and that this is “the definitive Frank Zappa documentary.”
Here are some other production notes and we’ll be looking for more details on when it gets a wider release.
