Dead & Company kicked off their first show down at the Moon Palace in Cancún, Mexico as part of their last official Playing In The Sand celebration last night.
The band got a unique start to the year and the festival with John Mayer unveiling the news that he would be sporting a faithful replica of Jerry Garcia‘s “Wolf” guitar during the performance.
For the first night, Bob Weir followed up his sit-in with Wynonna Judd last week by welcoming Judd to join the Dead & Co. gang for “Ramble on Rose” in the first set. Jay Lane also sat-in for drummer duties on “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and “Hey Jude.” Scroll down to see some videos and photos from the show.
For Playing In The Sand 2023, Dead & Company will play three different nights at the all-inclusive resort, and Goose will get the main stage slot on Sunday, Jan. 15.
All of the above is being webcast through Nugs.net so head here if you want to watch the show live from your couch.
