Dead & Company played Night #3 of Summer Tour 2021 last night at Citi Field in New York, and following two excellent shows to start the tour, we were pretty jazzed to see what they were going to bring to the table for the show.
As you know, the Grateful Dead has a long history with New York and planted their East Coast flags there early in their career, so Dead & Co members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann and bandmates Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge and John Mayer usually feel pretty comfortable when they’re in the area.
Bobby and John certainly looked the part:

Highlights from my end were the Dead & Co debut of “Let the Good Times Roll” and “They Love Each Other” was a massive version. Set two started with a rollicking “Eyes of the World > Uncle John’s Band” that took us deep into their bouncy psychedelia, and the Drums section was particularly stand-out last night. The 1-2-3 punch of “Althea,” “Stella Blue” and “U.S. Blues” to close the show was really great also.
