I have a confession to make. I never really understood the hype about Dave. Although “Crash Into Me” was one of my favorite songs in high school (yes, it was because of the overt-yet-somehow-subtle naughtiness of the lyrics and yes, I’m revealing my age here), I never cared one way or another whether I saw him live. Sure, I heard his shows were great, but he just never did for me what he has done for all of those fans out there.
Ah, but then, Dave just so happened to be one of the acts performing at a benefit concert that I went to a few months back. He was only one of a dozen terrific great artists who played their hearts out for the benefit, but his live performance really did reach right in to my body and strum the chords of my heart. And yes, the band played “Crash” and yes, the naughtiness of the lyrics still makes my skin tingle.
