By now you’ve probably seen a clip here or there floating around the internet containing a young female drummer just absolutely crushing some hard rock classics. Yoyoka Soma is her name, and she’s from Ishikari, Japan. She first caught wind a few years back at age 8 when she entered an online video contest covering Led Zeppelin‘s “Good Times Bad Times” and absolutely crushing the drums in the process. Since then, she’s been on Ellen, recorded some new vids, and hopefully preparing for a massive career ahead of her as a drummer.
Looks like she had something planned for the Kaneaiyoyoka YouTube charity event a few months back, but it just crossed my path and got some attention on Reddit and seems to be hitting just perfectly this Mother’s Day. In one of her new cover videos, this time it’s a full-family affair featuring Rage Against the Machine‘s “Killing in the Name” and Yoyoka’s Mom shouting the lyrics in a way that Zach de la Rocha would be proud of.
Check it out below. It rocks.
