The music world has come alive this morning with the announcement that Rage Against the Machine will be reuniting to headline Coachella 2007.
Rage Against the Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Along with Rage, the promoters of the festival are bringing back some past headliners to round out the top of the bill: Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bjork. I’ll be honest, I think that is some serious star power at the top, especially considering that two of the artists are triumphantly returning from hiding (Rage hiding as Audioslave, Bjork hiding as a sailor).
And the good news doesn’t stop there — the LA Times is reporting that the other acts expected are: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings of Leon.
I think I’d be speaking for a huge host of music fans by saying “wow.” The lineup is eclectic, the headliners are huge, the desert is hot, and the 2007 Coachella Music Festival looks to be one very solid event…
